Sarah is a proven changemaker – she has been a powerhouse in the Delaware State Senate, leading the way in proving that small states can do big things.

In the State Senate, Sarah has played a critical role in passing bold policies that make government work better for families and workers. And she’s done it by bringing people together – from healthcare to paid leave, she’s brought together Republicans and liberal Democrats, small businesses and labor, advocates and experts.

Championing paid medical and family leave.

Sarah led the fight to successfully pass the Healthy Delaware Families Act which will guarantee Delawareans paid leave to welcome a new child, recover from an illness, or care for a family member.

Keeping our families safe from gun violence. 

Following Uvalde, Sarah was one of the first elected officials to speak out and demand action in Dover. Together with her colleagues, she took on the NRA and fought for the most significant gun safety package in state history.

Making health care more affordable and available.

As Chair of the Health Committee, Sarah has passed legislation expanding access to care, enhancing home health services, and providing mental health care to at-risk Delawareans.

Improving our public schools and supporting our youth.

Sarah has been a vocal champion of students and teachers. She's helped lead successful efforts to pass legislation improving reading and literacy, addressing the mental health crisis facing students, and expanding access to early childhood education. She's fought for teachers to have better pay and benefits because she knows that our educators deserve it.
