Wilmington, DE— Congressional candidate and Delaware State Senator Sarah McBride raised $413,750 in the 2nd quarter that ended on June 30. McBride, a Wilmington-based state senator, launched her congressional campaign on June 26. The fundraising total includes contributions from 540 Delaware donors, reflecting the substantial investment in the campaign from across the state. McBride’s significant fundraising came despite being a candidate for Delaware’s at-large congressional seat for only five days, which also coincided with the busy end of the legislative session last week.
“I’m grateful for the overwhelming grassroots support we’ve received since launching this campaign last week, including from hundreds of Delawareans who know that I’ll be a voice in Congress to make government work better for all families,” said Senator McBride. “We know that this race isn’t just about making history. We’re focused on building a campaign that can win and I’m running as a proven leader who will deliver results and focus on the issues that really matter to Delawareans. Together, we’ll continue to prove that small states can do big things.”
In addition to launching her campaign for Congress last week, McBride continued her tenure as an effective lawmaker, passing many of her bills as the Delaware General Assembly wrapped up its final week of the legislative session. During this session, McBride championed and helped pass major legislation including gun safety reforms, historic investments in lead poisoning prevention and remediation, significant anti-corruption policies, protections for DREAMers and other undocumented workers, investments in clean energy, and expanded access to health care.
McBride launched her campaign last week with an extensive first round of endorsers, including Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings, State Auditor Lydia York, more than twenty Delaware elected officials, community organizers, labor leaders and community and national advocacy organizations.
