Release: Elect Democratic Women Endorses Sarah McBride for Congress
McBride Continues Trend Of Earning Support From Future Colleagues Across The Democratic Caucus
Wilmington, DE— Congressional candidate for Delaware’s at-large district and State Senator Sarah McBride has been endorsed by Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the Congressional Member-led committee dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to Congress.
This endorsement continues McBride’s trend of earning support from future colleagues across the Democratic caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as the endorsement of national champions for reproductive freedom. McBride was previously endorsed by Equality PAC, the electoral arm of the Congressional Equality Caucus, the single largest caucus of any kind on Capitol Hill. Just last month, McBride was endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, the electoral arm of the largest ideological caucus in the Democratic caucus.
“Growing up in Delaware, Sarah McBride has spent her life advocating for her community,” said Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL), Chair of Elect Democratic Women. “Sarah has been a champion for increased access to healthcare, protecting reproductive rights, and expanding access to paid family and medical leave for families across Delaware. Elect Democratic Women is pleased to endorse Sarah’s historic campaign and is confident that she will continue her work serving Delaware’s women and families in Congress.”
"From working at the White House to serving in the state Senate, it has been an honor to dedicate my career to the people of Delaware,” said McBride. “Advocating for my community and making Delaware a place where everyone can thrive has been my motivation from day one. It's why I introduced and passed paid family and medical leave in the First State and it is why I am running for Congress. I am proud to receive the endorsement of Elect Democratic Women and am looking forward to serving alongside them to protect women’s reproductive freedoms, and fight for policies that support all women and families.”
In addition to its chair, Rep. Frankel, EDW’s board includes Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Rep. Annie Kuster (D-NH), and Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA).
McBride has also been endorsed by several Delaware elected officials including Attorney General Kathy Jennings, State Auditor Lydia York, former Lt. Governor and Attorney General Matt Denn and more than twenty Delaware elected officials, community organizers, labor leaders and community and national advocacy organizations.
