Wilmington, DE— Congressional candidate for Delaware’s at-large district and State Senator Sarah McBride announced today that she has earned the endorsement of Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro. The endorsement comes weeks after McBride launched her campaign for Congress and only days after the campaign reported raising more than $400k during the first five days of the campaign.
“Issues that impact all of us, like lowering healthcare costs and protecting consumers, require a collaborative effort,” said Commissioner Navarro. “As Delaware's Insurance Commissioner, I frequently work with both state and federal partners to ensure our seniors and working families are supported. We need a courageous and effective leader in Congress to continue to get things done for Delawareans, and I have seen firsthand that Sarah delivers. I'm proud to support Sarah McBride to be Delaware's next member of Congress and look forward to continuing to make a difference for Delawareans, together."
“I have worked with Commissioner Navarro to expand health coverage, subsidize auto insurance for foster youth, and pass paid leave. I’m grateful for his endorsement and thank him for supporting our campaign to make government work better for families across Delaware,” said Senator McBride. “Together, including with the thousands of Delawareans who have joined us, we are building a winning campaign focused on issues that voters care about including investing in workers and families, addressing gun violence, protecting access to abortion and tackling climate change. In Congress, I’ll build on my record of taking bold action, building bridges for lasting progress and proving that small states can do big things.”
McBride launched her campaign two weeks ago with an extensive first round of endorsers, including Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings, State Auditor Lydia York, more than twenty Delaware elected officials, community organizers, labor leaders and community and national advocacy organizations. Last week the campaign reported raising $413,750, including contributions from 540 Delaware donors. McBride’s significant fundraising came despite being a candidate for Delaware’s at-large congressional seat for only five days, which also coincided with the busy end of the legislative session.
